"In this play, modern lovers' labor isn't lost.
Frank's dead-on impersonation of Richman ....
The band is tight, playing the songs with skill and ease."

The Man Who Was Too Loud catalogues the
years 1969 to 1973, when a quiet, delicate clean nosed kid named
JoJo hitched to NYC from Boston, saw the Velvet Underground, and
decided to start a rock band of his own. Although destined to be
shrouded forever in the backdrop of history, his band, The
Modern Lovers, would inspire everyone from the Violent Femmes
to the Sex Pistols to join a little movement called "PUNK."
... a little on Josh Frank and his theatre Josh Frank. founder of Mind Over Money Theatre Festival (MOMFEST) and the Theater-less Theatre Co., left Austin three years ago to pursue his career as a writer/director/producer in New York City. After associate producing for the Nederlanders on Love, Janis and Dream A Little Dream (The Mamas and the Papas musical) he will present his own first off Broadway show, Teenager Of The Year, an alternative rock musical about the life and times of the cult band the Pixies that will premiere in New York City in 2004. Following the success of his other Austin based productions - Night of the Werewolf, Golem and Herzog’s Stroszek, he returns to Austin to workshop his next Off-Broadway show. |
